"Yeojeong Jaehyung" Shin Sae-kyeong still gave a cautious reaction to the ending of "High Kick Through the Roof."
On the afternoon of the 1st, the "Yeojeong Jaehyung" channel uploaded a video titled "And Sae-kyeong, are you really a scary person?ㅠ"
The MBC sitcom "High Kick Through the Roof," which aired from Sept. 2009 to March 2010, recorded a peak rating of 24.9% (according to Nielsen Korea) and enjoyed a syndromic level of popularity. However, the ending unfolded with doctor Ji-hoon and housekeeper Sae-kyeong dying together in an accident, shocking viewers.
"But why was the ending like that?" to that question, Shin Sae-kyeong sighed and could not bring herself to answer. Jung Jae-hyung said, "That caused an uproar too, right? Looking back now, it was a sitcom, but it caused a huge social commotion," and Shin Sae-kyeong said, "It's still a commotion. I still hear about that," referring to the ending scene that has been controversial for 15 years.
Jung Jae-hyung asked, "Do people still say, 'Why did the ending turn out like that?' when they pass by?" and Shin Sae-kyeong said, "Well, it might be said to be an all-time classic ending; it's a work that is never left out," adding, "I still remember it: on the day of the final broadcast there was also a wrap party at the same time. We all agreed to gather and watch the last broadcast together. Many reporters came too. After filming we naturally set (makeup and costumes) and gathered because it was the wrap party, but I remember the mood felt unusual. Outside of the space where we were gathered, it felt like a big event was happening," she said, drawing laughter.
Jung Jae-hyung said, "It really was like that. The outside world turned hostile. Watching it again made me realize how much it was loved and how many people watched it," and Shin Sae-kyeong said cautiously, "I think it's proof of how much people loved and supported it."
Shin Sae-kyeong said, "You have to be careful with words about High Kick. Especially about the ending, you really have to be careful and choose your words well. To be honest, receiving great love through 'High Kick' made me feel for the first time, 'So this is how powerful it is.' I thought, 'This is amazing.' So we have to be even more careful."<
