Cartoonist Kian84 was moved to tears after seeing actor Kwon Hwa Woon on "Extreme 84."
On the 1st episode of MBC's variety program "Extreme 84," episode 10 (the final episode), Kian84 and the Extreme crew ran the last marathon course, the "Arctic Marathon," full course.
That day Kian84, after struggling and even biting Arctic ice, succeeded in finishing the Arctic Marathon full course with a mid-to-upper rank of 44th out of 125 runners. He embraced crew member Kwon Hwa Woon, who had finished earlier in fifth place, and shared the joy of completion.
But soon he broke into tears, moving those who watched. Kian84, saying, "Africa also failed, I drank in France, I was trying to do this a bit better. I should have done better," expressed remorse and apologized.
In fact, Kian84 had felt strong pressure in the Arctic Marathon because of a past experience of vomiting when completing a full marathon, but he overcame it and finished. Moreover, despite finishing the race with a respectable mid-to-upper rank, he felt sorry for crew member Kwon Hwa Woon, who always took care of him first.
He confessed, "I tried not to cry. I didn't want to lose face. But Hwa Woon looked at me and I welled up." Kian84 expressed deep gratitude to Kwon Hwa Woon, saying, "To me, this person has a very good character. When I wonder, 'Why can't I run?' she says, 'Try changing your energy gel,' or 'Let's train running in the mountains together.'"
Kian84 even praised Kwon Hwa Woon's character, saying, "Even on days when a training appointment was set and she had already completed her own training, she would come to run with me. She doesn't just run; she also plans the course," adding warmth.
