"Sang-hwa, Sang-hwa." Singer Kangnam ran his first full marathon course on 'Extreme 84,' shouting his wife, former speed skater Lee Sang-hwa's name.
On the program's 10th episode (finale), which aired on the 1st, Kian84 and the extreme crew's final marathon course, the 'Arctic Marathon' full course, was unveiled.
That day, the extreme crew's rookie runner Kangnam challenged himself to complete a full marathon for the first time. When leg cramps began, he was in no condition to exert force. Kangnam muttered "Sang-hwa, Sang-hwa" as he moved his exhausted body. He kept repeating his wife Lee Sang-hwa's name.
Kangnam said, "My wife brought honor to the country in skating, and if her husband gave up midway, it felt like I wouldn't be fulfilling my duty. So I was able to run to the end," bringing viewers to tears. Even Kian84 said, "I keep, I can't speak," to that extent.
When Kangnam reached the 30km water station, he received encouragement from other participants cheering him on. He ran shouting "I can do it" in response to encouragement from a 57-year-old middle-aged woman who urged, "I do it too, so you can do it, too."
Kangnam said, "Sang-hwa always said that if people cheer you on, you get strength," recalling his wife's advice even at that moment, and despite leg cramps that continued for more than 5km, he surpassed 32km, raising expectations for his first full-course finish.
