KBS's new announcers were brought to tears by a harsh evaluation meeting.
On the afternoon of the 1st, the KBS 2TV entertainment program 'The boss's ears are donkey ears' aired footage showing senior announcers including Eom Ji-in and Kim Jin-woong conducting evaluation meetings for the new announcers.
KBS's 51st class new announcers Lee Sang-chul, Sim Soo-hyun and Park Hyo-jin held a "news impromptu live evaluation meeting." Senior announcers sharply pointed out their juniors' mistakes and offered advice to help them grow.
At the evaluation meeting that day, announcer Park Hyo-jin, known as 'Seoul National University NewJeans Min-ji,' attracted attention as she burst into tears. After the impromptu news segment ended, seniors pointed out Park Hyo-jin's mistake, saying, "Answering the PD's call almost made me give a hollow laugh at that moment. That's really serious."
Park Hyo-jin, flustered, said, "I think I did it without realizing it. I'll be careful," and Eom Ji-in said, "Being careful... this is a broadcast accident. If it were real, you'd have to write a report," criticizing her. Other seniors repeatedly emphasized, "This is really serious. It's not just a problem that ends with 'we will be careful'; you must be very alert."
Park Hyo-jin also said, "I dreamed of being a news anchor, so I had high expectations, but the news delivery felt more disappointing than I expected," "What Hyo-jin says doesn't sound like speaking at all. It sounds like reading aloud aiming to read well. Speaking in a monotone doesn't convey the content at all," and "To put it bluntly, the expression 'parrot'—to put it very harshly—was what it was," drawing attention.
In the end, Park Hyo-jin broke down in tears. The seniors advised, "If you want to be on broadcast, you must have a strong heart. You need to know how to handle things calmly," and warned, "It might be okay when you hear it from us, but imagine these kinds of comments being posted every day in the comments. We live with that every day."
Eom Ji-in also offered advice, "Since we're talking about it, I'll say more. You said you're bold, and you can be like that on news, too. If not, you'll really be a parrot, like AI."
Park Hyo-jin explained, "I think they were tears of self-blame," and Eom Ji-in said, "I actually understand that feeling," recalling her past. Then Jun Hyun-moo joked, "You made her cry," which drew laughter.
