Funky Studio, the producer of MBC's 'Boy Fantasy: After School Excitement Season 2' (hereafter Boy Fantasy), issued a strong warning message to My Entertainment for organizing an unauthorized fan meeting for Yoo Jun-won.
Funky Studio said it has begun full countermeasures, declaring that if ticket presales for Yoo Jun-won's Japan fan meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. on the 1st, are pushed ahead, it will immediately hold the organizer My Entertainment fully legally responsible and seek compensation for damages.
Yoo Jun-won recently announced on social media that tickets for a Feb. 1 Japan fan meeting would go on sale, but this is an act that repeats an attempt after being caught preparing a performance in 2024 without consulting the production company and having that event canceled. This fan meeting was also detected in advance through reports from Fantasy Boys fans.
The production company expressed regret at the actions of the organizer 'My Entertainment' for this performance. Although it has long been industry practice in Japan for entertainment companies to refrain from activities when legal disputes between artists and agencies are underway, pushing ahead with the performance despite that is being criticized as a breach of industry ethics.
Accordingly, Funky Studio will begin a joint response together with Yoo Jun-won's exclusive Japanese management company, Kiss Entertainment. A production company official said that they will immediately send a certified letter and file for an injunction to prohibit the performance against My Entertainment, which, despite knowing about the exclusive contract violation, is supporting the activity.
Yoo Jun-won is currently facing a damages lawsuit seeking about 3 billion won after losing an injunction request to suspend the exclusive contract. Funky Studio said it will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward Yoo Jun-won and the forces behind him for continuing unauthorized activities while legal procedures are still pending.
Yoo Jun-won appeared on 'Boy Fantasy: After School Excitement Season 2' in 2023 and was to debut in the debut group as the final first-place winner, FANTASY BOYS, but he clashed with the agency by demanding an increased revenue sharing rate because he was first place. Afterward, Fantasy Boys debuted as an 11-member group excluding Yoo Jun-won, and producer Funky Studio filed a lawsuit seeking damages in the tens of billions of won against Yoo Jun-won, with the trial ongoing. Yoo Jun-won then filed an injunction to suspend the effect of the exclusive contract against Funky Studio, but it was dismissed.
