'Dream Concert in Hong Kong' was abruptly canceled one week before it was to be held.
The Korea Entertainment Producers Association (KEPA), which was to host 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong,' said on the 31st that it was confirmed that the Chinese organizer, Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company, unilaterally announced the postponement of the concert despite the fact that the nonprofit Korea Entertainment Producers Association and From Entertainment, which were to host the event scheduled for Feb. 6 and 7, 2026, in Hong Kong, had not agreed.
KEPA said it had continued to seek ways to carry on the performance normally and had clearly stated that it would not give up the stage under any circumstances, but that it had received a unilateral postponement notice from the Chinese local organizer, Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company, without prior consultation or sufficient explanation, and thus it reached a situation where it was no longer possible to proceed with the event as scheduled.
It added that although this decision was not due to any fault of the association or the organizer, it deeply regrets causing confusion and inconvenience to the audience, artists and related parties who were waiting for the performance. It said the association and the organizer are reviewing procedures to clarify the exact circumstances and responsibility for the matter, and are also carefully discussing follow-up response measures, including contractual and legal reviews.
KEPA also said that because 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong' was prepared amid renewed expectations for Korea-China cultural exchange, the Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company's unilateral postponement notice is seen as a decision contrary to the purpose of expanding cultural exchange. The association said it believes the current situation is not unrelated to complex problems intertwined with the overall Korea-China cultural exchange environment, and it finds this very regrettable.
Finally, it said the nonprofit Korea Entertainment Producers Association has operated the performance brand 'Dream Concert,' which represents K-pop, for the past 30 years, and will respond with the priority value of responsibility to audiences, artists and the industry under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong' was scheduled to be held at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on Feb. 6-7, and the lineup included EXO-CBX, Hwasa, Taemin, The Boyz and others.
The following is the full statement from KEPA.
Hello.
This is the nonprofit Korea Entertainment Producers Association.
First, we are very sorry to bring this unfortunate news to K-pop fans and stakeholders around the world who love K-pop.
It has been confirmed that 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong,' which the nonprofit Korea Entertainment Producers Association and From Entertainment were to host in Hong Kong on Feb. 6 and 7, 2026, was postponed by the Chinese organizer Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company through a unilateral notice despite no agreement from the association and the Korean organizer.
KEPA and From Entertainment kept the possibility open until the last moment to proceed with the concert as planned. They continuously sought ways to carry on the performance normally and clearly stated that they would not give up the stage under any circumstances.
However, they received a unilateral postponement notice from the Chinese local organizer Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company without prior consultation or sufficient explanation, and as a result it became difficult to proceed with the event as scheduled.
Although this decision was not due to any fault of the association or the organizer, we deeply regret causing confusion and inconvenience to the audience, artists and related parties who were waiting for the performance. The association and the organizer are reviewing procedures to clarify the exact circumstances and responsibility for the matter, and are also carefully discussing follow-up response measures, including contractual and legal reviews.
Because 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong' was prepared amid renewed expectations for Korea-China cultural exchange, the Changsha Liugou Cultural Heritage Company's unilateral postponement notice is seen as a decision contrary to the purpose of expanding cultural exchange. The association believes the current situation is not unrelated to complex problems intertwined with the overall Korea-China cultural exchange environment, and it finds this very regrettable.
The nonprofit Korea Entertainment Producers Association, which has operated the performance brand 'Dream Concert' representing K-pop for the past 30 years, will continue to respond with the priority value of responsibility to audiences, artists and the industry under any circumstances.
Once again, we offer our deep apologies to everyone who was waiting for 'Dream Concert 2026 in Hong Kong'.
