Actor Seo Bum-june also moved viewers with a miraculous meeting that honored a promise made 10 years earlier with actor Yoo Ji-tae, following his admired "Seochon bakery pilgrimage." As a result, I Live Alone recorded a peak 6.0% rating, and it ranked first among Friday variety shows in both household ratings and the 20-54 demographic.
On the 30th episode of MBC I Live Alone (directed by Heo Hang, Kang Ji-hee, Kim Jin-kyung, Moon Ki-yeong), the footage of Kian84 and DAY6's Dowoon hiking together on Cheonggye Mountain and actor Seo Bum-june meeting his role model Yoo Ji-tae after his Seochon bakery pilgrimage was revealed.
According to ratings company Nielsen Korea on the 30th, the household rating for I Live Alone aired the previous day recorded 5.4% in the Seoul metropolitan area, ranking first among Friday variety shows. The 20-54 rating, a key channel competitiveness indicator reflecting changes in media consumption, also recorded 3.4%, ranking first among Friday variety shows.
The "best minute" was the scene in which self-proclaimed "spelling king for eight years" Kian84 gave Dowoon a spelling lesson in his own way, and the scene in which Seo Bum-june held an impromptu fan meeting with fans he met during his Seochon bakery pilgrimage and shared bread. The peak rating was 6.0% thanks to the "dumb and dumber" chemistry between Kian84 and Dowoon and Seo Bum-june's "bread angel (bread + donation angel)" side.
After discovering they shared similar tastes at the recent "Rainbow Grand Bazaar," Kian84 and Dowoon set out to climb Cheonggye Mountain to watch the first sunrise of the new year. Dowoon, who said he asked Kian84 out first (?), appeared shyly and drew laughter. They were taken aback by the pitch-black darkness and cold that felt close to minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Dowoon drew admiration by taking various survival items (?) out of his bag and thoughtfully preparing even for Kian84. While waiting for the sunrise at the Cheonggye Mountain peak, he covered the shivering Kian84 with a foil blanket and kept taking care of his older brother, showing a sweet side. Kian84 also handed Dowoon warm coffee he had prepared, and Dowoon's reaction of "yulmu tea?" sparked laughter. After a long wait, the two did not see the round sunrise they expected, but with a positive mindset they made wishes toward the rising sun.
Afterwards, Kian84 guided Dowoon to a "charcoal kiln" to reward him for enduring the cold. Dowoon, who was new to the kiln, followed Kian84 enjoying the intense heat inside and charmed viewers with his cute imitation. Seeing Kian84, who drew mothers' attention as the "charcoal kiln prince," Dowoon exclaimed, "As expected, our brother," in admiration.
After enjoying a full kiln course including samgyeopsal, soybean paste stew, young radish jelly rice, and even tteokbokki snack, Kian84 and Dowoon were satisfied. Dowoon expressed his satisfaction with the day with Kian84, saying, "His charm is like comfort. There's nothing that wouldn't fit. He's the type to respect each other's parts. I enjoyed every moment with Kian84."
Meanwhile, actor Seo Bum-june continued his "bread-life" routine while doing a "Seochon bakery pilgrimage." Having conquered bakery pilgrimages across the country including Seoul, Daejeon, Busan, Daegu, and Gangneung, Seo Bum-june cleared a "Dubai croissant" he bought by lining up from 8 a.m. and then set off on his full bakery pilgrimage. Starting with a sweet-and-salty sandwich, he filled his hands and then some with classic breads, Hong Kong-style bread, salt bread and more, running from place to place.
Seo Bum-june, with flavorful descriptions of the breads, drew admiration from the Rainbow members, and Ku Sung-hwan and Leejung expressed their willingness to join his bakery pilgrimage. He also naturally shared bread with fans he met during the pilgrimage and with other "bakery pilgrims." Seo Bum-june said, "I'm happy eating the bread, but talking with people makes me even happier," prompting Leejung to say, "I want to meet by chance too," which drew laughs.
With the bread collected from his bakery pilgrimage, Seo Bum-june made his own "gourmet bread gift set" and went to meet the recipient. The person he met was actor Yoo Ji-tae. Seo Bum-june, who had formed a special connection with his idol Yoo Ji-tae when he was an aspiring actor 10 years ago, wiped his eyes and said, "The first time I met you, senior, was in 2016. Exactly 10 years have passed." Yoo Ji-tae smiled and replied, "We said we'd meet in 10 years; such a miraculous thing, it's truly amazing."
Yoo Ji-tae congratulated Seo Bum-june on his SBS Drama Awards supporting actor prize, saying, "That's amazing. The world belongs to those who take on challenges," praising him. Seo Bum-june burst into tears at his words. He presented a pen gift he had prepared for Yoo Ji-tae, a letter expressing his gratitude, and the bread gift. Yoo Ji-tae was moved, saying, "This is bread given by a junior who succeeded." He smiled brightly after tasting the trendy "Dubai jjondeuk cookie."
