Former rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae revealed both "gaining weight" and "plans for a second child" as her New Year's goals for 2026.
On the 29th, a video titled "What Yeon-jae ate for a week 2026 full-on bulk up… and meal slump" was released on the YouTube channel "Son Yeon-jae."
In the video, Son Yeon-jae said, "Today is Jan. 7, 2026, and this is my first time going out alone in seven days," and noted, "Since the end of the year I've mostly been taking care of the baby by myself. My stamina has dropped a lot." She added, "Since returning from the U.S., I've been taking care of Jun-yeon alone, but I'm still making good memories."
She candidly said about her New Year's goal, "My biggest goal this year is to have a second child," drawing attention. She added, "The goal is not just to gain weight but to build muscle," and also revealed a plan to gain 2 kg.
While shopping at the supermarket, Son Yeon-jae said, "The bulk-up diet will be bean sprout kimchi soup and mille-feuille nabe," and remarked, "First of all, I have to buy meat," while also showing a modest shopping routine, saying, "I actually bought a lot of vegetables, so it's nothing special."
But reality was not easy. Son Yeon-jae said, "I was going to film a bulk-up vlog, but a meal slump has come these days," and vowed, "I haven't wanted to eat much, but starting today I'll try to improve my eating habits."
At a meal with acquaintances, talk of a second child came up again. In response to the remark, "There is a saying that if the first child resembles the mother, the second will be a daughter," Son Yeon-jae laughed, "Are you saying I'll have another son?" and friends offered joking encouragement, saying, "Yeon-jae should have one daughter."
Meanwhile, Son Yeon-jae married a financier nine years her senior in 2022 and has a son, Jun-yeon.
