Singer WOOZ (WOOZ, Cho Seung-yeon) is opening his 2026 activities with a new song riding the renewed popularity of "Drowning."
On the 30th, OSEN reported that WOOZ is preparing a new album aiming for a March release.
Over the past year, WOOZ swept various music charts with "Drowning." "Drowning," released in 2023, drew major attention in 2024 when WOOZ, who was serving in the military at the time, appeared on Immortal Songs and a live video of him singing in his uniform attracted significant attention.
Afterward, "Drowning" spawned numerous cover videos and enjoyed a retro-run surge in popularity, and as a result it topped domestic year-end charts on music sites including Melon in 2025, being named the most loved song of the year.
Meanwhile, a video of WOOZ performing a live version of "Drowning" on the congratulatory stage at the '3rd Pinggye-go Awards' held last December drew attention and gave the song renewed momentum.
Meanwhile, WOOZ is expected to continue the popularity of "Drowning" by releasing a new album in March. Having been active across the board since his discharge in July last year—from digital singles to drama OSTs—expectations are growing for the hard work he will put in during 2026.
In particular, it was confirmed that actor Park Hee-soon will provide support for this new release. Park Hee-soon is currently appearing as Kang Shin-jin in MBC's Friday-Saturday drama The Judge Returns. Known as a 'jicheonmyeong idol' for roles in My Name, Squid Game season 2·season 3, and the film Ahnjyeolsuga Eopda (Ahn... no choice), he will appear in the music video for WOOZ's new album title track, further raising the song's completeness with his reliable acting.
Meanwhile, WOOZ debuted in 2014 as a member of the group UNI.T. He later participated in Mnet's Produce X 101 in 2019 and received great love, and since then he has continued activities as a solo singer under the name WOOZ., delight_me@osen.co.kr
