The super-large rookie boy group ALPHA DRIVE ONE (ALD1, ALD1) racing toward the top of global K-pop is proving its growing global popularity.
Alpha Drive One (Rio, Junseo, Arno, Geonwoo, Sangwon, Xinlong, Anshin, Sanghyun) officially debuted on the 12th with their mini 1st album and debut album "EUPHORIA" and, upon debut, has been shaking up the K-pop scene.
Alpha Drive One swept MBC M and MBC every1's Show! Champion, KBS2's MUSIC BANK, MBC's Show! Music Core, and SBS's Inkigayo with the title track "FREAK ALARM," lifting trophies for first place on the three major terrestrial broadcasters' music shows. In particular, Alpha Drive One earned the honorable title of being the boy group to win first place on all three major terrestrial broadcasters' music shows with a debut song for the first time in about nine years, setting an unprecedented debut record.
Earlier, with "EUPHORIA" they surpassed 1.44 million in first-week sales (album sales in the week following release), setting the historic record of the second-highest first-week sales for a K-pop group's debut album, demonstrating both overwhelming buzz and box-office power.
This momentum continues on major global charts. The mini 1st album "EUPHORIA" ranked 4th on both the Oricon combined weekly album ranking and the weekly album ranking (tracking period Jan. 19–25), appearing in the top ranks for two consecutive weeks. In addition, the streaming ranking for the title track "FREAK ALARM" has continued a steady rise, climbing five spots from the previous week.
Also, Alpha Drive One's strength is notable on the Spotify charts (Jan. 27). On Japan's Spotify charts, every track from the album entered the daily viral songs chart, and the daily top artists ranking rose five places. Along with this, "FREAK ALARM" entered the daily viral songs chart on Korea's Spotify chart, proving its domestic and international buzz.
The title track "FREAK ALARM" not only maintained a top-10 position on the Circle Chart download chart but also showed powerful digital performance with every track from the album charting. Moreover, it landed on Billboard Korea K-Songs chart for two consecutive weeks (last week of Jan.), and all tracks from the album entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart (last week of Jan.). In addition, "FREAK ALARM" debuted at No. 1 on the Melon HOT100 (on the 30th) immediately after the song's release and has firmly held a top-three position since.
Meanwhile, Alpha Drive One plans to continue active communication with global K-pop fans through various activities going forward.
