Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju conveyed the background behind the anecdote of accompanying her mother Seo Jeong-hee on her honeymoon.
On the 29th, a video titled "A grandmother who sold her house two years after raising four children alone at 27!? | Even living well is hereditary(?)" was uploaded to the "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong" channel.
That day Seo Dong-ju visited a fine dining restaurant with her grandmother and enjoyed an elegant meal. Then she said, "Yeong-seok doesn't have a grandmother. He has a grandmother now, doesn't he. That makes him so happy," conveying her husband's exceptional love for his grandmother.
She said, "So he keeps wanting to visit his grandmother, acting cute and wanting to contact her, but when he contacts her the grandmother sometimes says, 'Stop contacting me.' Then he gets depressed," and added, "He was most disappointed that the grandmother didn't come on our honeymoon," which surprised listeners.
Seo Dong-ju said, "Because Yeong-seok said it was his lifelong wish: to make the honeymoon a family trip," and the grandmother scolded, "You're going on a honeymoon—why would you make it a family trip?"
In response Seo Dong-ju explained the situation: "So everyone said they'll not go and acted sick. But because of that, my mother who followed got a bit blamed. People said why did she follow. But actually Yeong-seok was upset at the people who didn't come."
Then the grandmother said, "But your mother would have been upset if she hadn't been taken then. She was so happy," and Seo Dong-ju expressed satisfaction with the joint honeymoon, saying, "It was my mother's first time in Bali and the man from nowhere's first time in Bali. So it was very nice."
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee; she worked as a lawyer at a large U.S. law firm and married in 2010. After divorcing in 2014, she is currently active in Korea as a broadcaster and, in June last year, married a husband four years her junior.
