TV CHOSUN hyperrealistic documentary variety show "The Joseon Lover" features the father of former national team soccer player Song Min-gyu reminiscing about a poor past ahead of his son's wedding.
The preview for the Feb. 2 broadcast shows the wedding of soccer player Song Min-gyu ♥ Kwak Min-seon, and Song Min-gyu's father summons memories of his family's childhood in an interview with the production team. Song Min-gyu's father said, "(At that time) we didn't have money to find a house. Sometimes someone would let us move in, and we'd live temporarily, and when they said 'you have to vacate the room,' my wife and I would pack our things and move," recalling that because of their poor circumstances they moved about seven times in Nonsan as if being driven out.
Still, he recalled that "I couldn't even think about finding a house. Even so, we never fell behind on (the soccer dues). If we fell behind, it would scratch Min-gyu's pride, so that couldn't happen," remembering how the couple worked without rest to support their young son's dream of becoming a soccer player. He added, "When Min-gyu said that the person he respects most is me, I felt so sorry to my son. I was very lacking as a father..." and his eyes welled up. The production team was also moved by the father's candid feelings, and the interview was briefly interrupted.
The touching past of Song Min-gyu and his father and the romantic wedding with announcer ♥ Kwak Min-seon will be revealed in the main broadcast.
Despite a poor past, with his parents' active support he wore the Taegeuk mark on his chest and ran across the pitch as a former national team soccer star; the second act of Song Min-gyu's life will be revealed on TV CHOSUN's hyperrealistic documentary variety show "The Joseon Lover" at 10 p.m. that evening.
