'Omniscient Interfering View' will feature Jiyeon, formerly of girl group T-ara, and former baseball player Hwang Jae-kyun, who is divorced from her, as they reveal their current lives.
The 383rd episode of the MBC entertainment program 'Omniscient Interfering View' (abbreviated OIV), which will air on the 31st, will depict the unemployed life of Hwang Jae-kyun, who declared his retirement and ended his 20-year professional baseball career.
First, Hwang Jae-kyun's single house, which fully reflects his tastes, will be revealed for the first time. A wide luxury Han River view, a living room overlooking the ballpark where he used to go regularly, figures, Lego, comic books filling the house, and other hobbies of his that viewers did not know about are expected to capture viewers' attention.
During his playing days he lost 13 kg in six weeks, a testament to his strict self-discipline. Two weeks after announcing his retirement, he lets go of all the discipline of being a baseball player and enjoys a leisurely day. Without the alarms he had set his whole life, he sleeps late, stares out the window at the ballpark and spaces out, and eats delivery food — all the signs of being truly unemployed. In particular, he devours the French fries and regular cola he had avoided most during his career and, calling it the taste of the secular world, expresses amazement, which reportedly made the show's panel laugh.
A somewhat shocking life of letting go is also revealed. After declaring his retirement, he put baseball gear he seemed unlikely to use again up for sale on a used goods site. He listed the beloved bat that had been with him throughout games for only 50,000 won, and when it didn't sell he coolly decided to give it away for free — a viewing point. Behind his relieved appearance after the used sale are the feelings he had at the time of retirement and the candid emotions of a legendary player experiencing mixed feelings after retirement, all of which will be revealed in this week's broadcast.
A special story with Park Shin-woong, his manager and a friend of 22 years, fills the studio with emotion. The manager is a colleague who dreamed of becoming a baseball player with Hwang Jae-kyun since high school and later became like family who shared all of life's joys and sorrows. He now uses Hwang Jae-kyun's house like a shopping mall, sharing all the clothes and shoes. That manager confesses the 'special loyalty' of Hwang Jae-kyun that he had kept buried in his heart: "When my family was in trouble 15 years ago, Jae-kyun took the lead and paid the rent." At the time his salary was 1.5 million won, but Hwang Jae-kyun willingly gave a large portion of his pay for his precious friend, a loyalty that reportedly moved the panel. It will air on Saturday the 31st at 11:10 p.m.
