"In Your Radiant Season" conveys warm fluttering to home viewers with a variety of love lines spanning generations and seasons, from youth romance to twilight romance.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season, scheduled to premiere at 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 20 (planning Namgung Seong-woo, screenplay Jo Seong-hee, directed by Jeong Sang-hee and Kim Young-jae), is a work that depicts an unpredictable "radiant" romance in which a man named Chan, who lives every day like an exciting summer vacation, and a woman named Ran, who has locked herself in winter, meet as if by fate and awaken frozen time.
Lee Sung-kyoung plays Song Ha-ran, the chief designer of the country's top high-end fashion house Nana Atelier. Ha-ran is a character who lives behind a solid defensive wall that keeps anyone out because of deep wounds from the past. She appears cold and perfect, but beneath that is a layered fear that she might lose someone precious. Chae Jong Hyeop plays animator Sun Woo-chan from Can Animation Studio. Sun Woo-chan is a person who leads those around him with bright, positive energy, but behind that is painful memories he does not easily confide in anyone.
The two, who were in the same place seven years ago, meet again as a designer and an animator and embark on a project together. As they grow closer, inexplicable connections and secrets are revealed, and the two face each other's different seasons in their mismatched memories. Whether Ha-ran can take Chan's hand and walk toward "spring" again, the salvation romance of the two, tangled by scattered memories and emotions, is expected to deliver excitement to home viewers.
Meeting again about 40 years after the film Winter Traveler, Lee Mi-Sook and Kang Sukwoo present a deep twilight romance through In Your Radiant Season. Lee Mi-Sook plays Kim Nana, a representative first-generation fashion designer of Korea and the head of Nana Atelier, and Kang Sukwoo plays Park Man-jae, a barista who runs the cafe "Shim" in a quiet alley. Kim Nana, who has led the organization with cool judgment and keen insight and has taken on the role of father by caring for her three granddaughters' lives, receives unexpected news.
Because of this, Kim Nana, who decided to wrap up a chapter of her life, reunites with her first love Park Man-jae and realizes feelings she had long buried. Nana's life, which had been running only toward success, temporarily slows down, and Man-jae's warmth offered in a quiet daily life awakens the emotions of a first love she had forgotten. The two, who reunited after different times and choices, are expected to deliver a weighty resonance as they depict a second spring of life that arrived late along with the love they thought had passed.
The production team said they wanted to depict various forms of love spanning generations in one work by including the salvation romance of Lee Sung-kyoung and Chae Jong Hyeop and the twilight romance of Lee Mi-Sook and Kang Sukwoo, and added that they hope viewers watch how the love each encounters in their own places blossoms in what temperature through the four actors' profound performances.
