Broadcaster and former announcer Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok's long divorce lawsuit has entered its third year. The high-profile counter-adultery lawsuits were dismissed.
On the 29th, according to legal sources, the Jeju District Court Family Division 2 single judge dismissed on the 27th the counterclaim for compensation for emotional damages for adultery that Choi Dong-seok filed against Park Ji-yoon and Mr. A. Also, the lawsuit of the same nature that Park Ji-yoon filed against Choi Dong-seok's acquaintance Mr. B was also dismissed.
With this, all the counter-adultery lawsuits that Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok filed against each other were dismissed. However, it is reported that a judgment related to the divorce lawsuit has not yet been issued.
The two, who split after 14 years of marriage, began the counter-adultery lawsuits in 2024. In July 2024 Park Ji-yoon first filed an adultery lawsuit, and Choi Dong-seok followed by filing an adultery lawsuit.
Park Ji-yoon said, "There was no misconduct or romantic relationship with anyone other than my spouse during the marriage period or during the subsequent lawsuit." Choi Dong-seok also said, "There was absolutely no illegal act during my married life with Park Ji-yoon," and denied the allegations as groundless.
In the end, the court consolidated the two cases for hearing, concluded the arguments in November of last year, and at the sentencing date on the 27th dismissed the claims filed by both sides. With this, one chapter of the controversial divorce case has been closed.
Immediately after the end of the counter-adultery lawsuits, Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok each revealed peaceful daily scenes. On the day of the ruling, the 27th, Park Ji-yoon posted on social media a note of encouragement and snacks she received on the plane as she departed for Japan, writing, "I will be stronger. Thank you."
Choi Dong-seok also shared an ordinary moment with the post, "Practically one meal today. And a little rice left by Iaan."
Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, who were colleagues as KBS announcers, married in 2009 and had one son and one daughter, but in October 2023 they announced their split and filed counter-adultery lawsuits. In the process, the two exchanged allegations and engaged in a mudslinging fight that caused controversy. Custody and parental rights of the children are with Park Ji-yoon, and Choi Dong-seok meets the children through visitation rights.
