Lee Su-yeon of trot powerhouse Total Set delivered a shining performance as the team's ace.
Lee Su-yeon appeared on MBN's "King of Singers 3" on the 27th and took part in the ace match, the second round of the second stage of the main competition. Determined to stage a comeback after finishing third overall last week, Lee Su-yeon, despite being the youngest contestant among active singers, surprised everyone by appearing as the ace risking the team's fate.
Lee Su-yeon said, "To go up with my older sisters, we absolutely have to be first. I thought it would be a big problem if we didn't turn it around. While preparing for the team stage, I was sorry that I couldn't perform because of a sudden injury, and I thought that if I did well in the ace match, my older sisters and I could all go up together," she said, showing her determination to fight back.
Lee Su-yeon gambled with Kim Chu-ja's "Nim-eun Meon Gote". She delivered a song with a depth not easy to handle at the age of 11 with her characteristically clear voice and explosive vocal power, capturing the judges' hearts.
Composer Yoon Myung-seon praised, "I always feel that Lee Su-yeon is like an eagle. She is very young, so emotionally it is difficult to handle this song, but whenever the emotional line threatened to slip, she gripped it tightly with her voice as if snatching prey with her talons. She is a young girl, but it was a cool and even fear-inducing performance."
Joo Hyun-mi advised, "She has innate talent and excellent emotional control. At just 11 years old, what worries me is that as she grows the function of her vocal cords will change, and I hope she gets through the voice-change period well," and Park Hyun-bin also said, "She is the best singer among 11-year-olds in Korea," deeply agreeing that she is the next leading figure in the trot market.
Lee Su-yeon ranked first in the celebrity judges' scores in the ace match, raising the overall score, and the "Oh! Miso Sisters" team rose above the previous second-place Cheon Gi King team to take second place overall. In the subsequent resurrection round, Lee Su-yeon secured advancement to the third round by stably singing Jang Yoon Jeong's "Chohon".
