Comedian No Yu-jeong's recent situation of working part-time at a restaurant after disappearing from the entertainment industry has been revealed.
A recent video titled 'A well-known famous entertainer is working part-time?' was posted on the YouTube channel 'Special Report World—That Person Back Then'.
No Yu-jeong was working at a restaurant in an alley where several restaurants sit side by side. Her main duty was washing dishes. No Yu-jeong, who debuted as an MBC special recruitment comedian in 1986 and performed across variety shows and sitcoms, said "Even my daughter doesn't know I'm working at a restaurant."
In the interview, she said, "It was so hard. I thought I was a useless person. I thought there was nothing I could do anywhere, I wanted to do something," adding, "I happened to come here and even though I just wash dishes, I just really like it."
Having moved from one rented house to another, there were many unresolved burdens. She recalled the hard times, saying, "I thought should I sleep at a jjimjilbang, go into a goshiwon, or live on the streets under a bridge."
What was the reason she disappeared from broadcasting? No Yu-jeong said, "There was a trigger. My phone was hacked. Charges of 200,000 to 300,000 won came out each month. Someone kept using it fraudulently. I reported it to the police, but they said they couldn't catch them. Then an announcement of a divorce came out and I fell into the worst downfall."
She had to do anything to make a living. She said, "I needed money right away, and at first my pride was hurt. But looking back, I'm grateful. Who else would play the market vendor role as well as I do? I thought maybe someday I could use this experience. It feels like life lessons."
About the divorce, she calmly said, "(My ex-husband was) this style, I was this style, and because I couldn't understand or accept it, I suffered. I think it's my fault. Everyone gets through such trials and the elders are all living, so I endured and endured, but in the end I was the one who gave up." She added, "The strength to endure is of course the children."
Meanwhile, No Yu-jeong married actor Lee Young-beom in 1994 and raised a son and a daughter, forming a happy family both publicly and privately. They then lived separately for four years, and in April 2015 they informed people that they had divorced by mutual agreement.
