Singer GREE completes his defense duty and is discharged today (28th).
On the 28th GREE completes 1 year and 6 months of military service and is discharged. GREE voluntarily enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 29, 2024, and served as a sergeant in the 2nd Division artillery brigade.
After enlisting, in March last year he drew attention by releasing images of receiving a model marine certificate and a facility·environment management meritorious service certificate. The certificate read, "He has consistently performed his duties with a deep sense of soldierly spirit and strong responsibility, and in particular, he has excellently managed the brigade headquarters facilities·environment, greatly contributing to the faithful Blue Dragon artillery brigade, so we award this certificate."
Earlier GREE said he chose to volunteer for the Marine Corps because "I wanted to build independence and learn how to survive more on my own. Just when I needed a turning point, enlistment approached. I thought that entering the Marine Corps would build the right mindset, so I planned it long ago."
On the day of his discharge GREE will announce a rapid return on Radio Star, hosted by his father Kim Gu Ra. As Kim Gu Ra has promoted GREE's discharge since last month and teased an appearance on 'Radio Star,' attention is focused on what kind of father-and-son chemistry the two will show.
In particular GREE said that after discharge he plans to use his real name Kim Dong-hyun rather than his stage name "GREE," and that he intends to call Kim Gu Ra's current wife "mom." Because he promised to attend his late-born younger sister's sports day in place of Kim Gu Ra, attention is focused on whether related matters will be mentioned.
Meanwhile, born in 1998 GREE began broadcasting activities with his father in 2006 and debuted as a rapper in 2016. Before enlisting GREE also released the single "Goodbye."
