"Show! Champion" boy idol group EXO kicked off a No. 1 run on music shows.
On the 28th, during the simultaneous live broadcasts on MBC every1 and M of "Show! Champion," EXO's crown was announced as the No. 1. Returning after a 2 year, 7 month hiatus and coming back as a full group after an even longer span, EXO showcased looks no different from their debut 15 years ago and even more perfected sharp choreography, proving the SM bedrock and the stature of the idol group that opened the third generation, showing they remain vigorous and continue on their unrivaled path.
Although their broadcast activities lasted only one week, EXO's impact remained strong. Not only the attention on music shows but also EXO's medley stage of hit songs at the MMA, appearing after about six years, literally had the power to awaken K-pop fans from 10 years ago. EXO did everything possible to meet fans but did not show it off, conveying sincerity to fans solely through skill and looks.
Despite reports that Chanyeol and Kai were injured and that members had been sick, rather than announcing it, they released practice room videos and simply wanted to share happy memories with fans. On stage they delivered thrills with perfect live vocals and sharp choreography.
Suho said, "On the last week of Show Champion, we EXO ended up being No. 1. With the 'Reverse' crown, EXO being No. 1, we sincerely thank EXO-Ls," showing gratitude to fans above anyone else. Chanyeol said, "As you waited for so long, we were happy to perform while seeing your faces, and we will continue to strive as EXO," expressing his resolve. Suho shouted, "EXO-Ls, I love you."
Fans reacted variously, saying, "I can't believe the show was already 10 days ago," "We voted as we did and of course they're No. 1," "Million seller, hurry up and come," "The kids' faces are glowing, it's truly joyful," "Is there anyone who will work harder from here? Even better," and so on.
Meanwhile, EXO demonstrated lasting strength with their eighth studio album "Reverse," released on the 19th, topping Hanteo charts and iTunes top album charts in 11 countries. EXO is also set to meet fans in various countries starting with their sixth solo concert, EXO PLANET #6 - EXhOrizon Seoul, beginning in April at Olympic Park K-Spo Dome.
