Singer Lee Hyori is participating in lyricist and music producer Park Chang-hak's songbook project.
The song sung by Lee Hyori, '마음, 얼음처럼, 단단하게(My Heart, Like Ice, Hardened)', is the fifth single of Park Chang-hak's Ode to Love Songs: songwriter Park Chang-hak songbook project, which retraces his 35-year musical journey.
This single is a newly arranged version of a track from saxophonist and composer Son Seong-je's 2011 album 《비의 비가》 released in 2011. Lee Hyori participated on vocals, offering a restrained and mature interpretation centered on a cool yet resolute emotional line.
Contrary to the public image of her as a girl-group-born dance singer, Lee Hyori has pursued independently mature musical activities. She expanded her musical spectrum through collaborations with her spouse, singer-songwriter Lee Sang Soon, as well as through self-composed songs and digital releases. She and Park Chang-hak continued musical exchanges through works such as '너의 것과 같기를' in 2024. This single project began when Lee Hyori expressed her intention to participate directly, and she contributed to song selection and interpretation processes, raising its completeness.
The arrangement of this song, consisting of piano and string orchestra performances, was handled by singer-songwriter Jeon Jin-hee, leader of the band Havinuaa who has consistently released solo works and worked across fields including as music director for the documentary <너를 만났다>, adding resonance throughout the piece. The string arrangement was by Lee Ji-an, and the performance included Onthestring.
The fifth single of the Ode to Love Songs project featuring Lee Hyori, '마음, 얼음처럼, 단단하게(My Heart, Like Ice, Hardened)', will be released on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. on various online music platforms.
