ENA hit drama "New Recruit" is returning for season 4 led by original member Kim Minho, along with Kim Dong-jun and Oh Dae-Hwan.
On the 28th, OSEN reported that production of "New Recruit" season 4 has been confirmed. According to multiple entertainment industry sources, actors who were active since season 1, including Kim Minho, as well as Kim Dong-jun, a former member of ZE:A who showed a strong presence in season 3, and veteran actor Oh Dae-Hwan will appear in season 4. They are scheduled to meet viewers again on ENA in the second half of the year.
The "New Recruit" series is a drama adapted from a web animation serialized on YouTuber Jang Bbijju's personal channel. It has been loved by a niche audience for its cheerful and witty telling of the stories that unfold when various recruits join a military unit made up of diverse servicemembers.
Thanks to this, the "New Recruit" series has met viewers from the first season released in 2022, at the start of ENA's rebranding, through last year's season 3. Moreover, a theatrical spin-off of "New Recruit" is currently in production. News of early production for "New Recruit" season 4 had also been anticipated.
In particular, the casting, which critics said ripped straight from the original, drew great attention. In season 4, Kim Minho, who played Park Min-seok and has been praised throughout the series since season 1, Kim Dong-jun, who joined in season 3 as top star recruit Jeon Jeon-segye, and Oh Dae-Hwan, beloved as company commander Jo Baek-ho with a warm sensibility, will continue the momentum. Viewers' curiosity is piqued about what episodes this reunited group will unfold with even more refined chemistry.
The director will once again be Min Jin-gi, the father of "New Recruit," who has been praised for military-background dramas since the "Blue Tower" series. The broadcast is scheduled to be programmed on ENA in the second half of this year.
