Director Han Jun-seo, who directed Recipe For Love, shared the directing points and behind-the-scenes stories.
KBS2's new weekend drama Recipe For Love, written by Park Ji-sook, directed by Han Jun-seo, and produced by HB Entertainment, set to premiere at 8 p.m. on the 31st, is a family make-up drama about two families who had been entangled in a 30-year feud resolving their misunderstandings, tending each other's wounds, and ultimately being reborn as one family.
Director Han Jun-seo opened by saying, "This time I wanted to portray a family story where everyone is the main character," and expressed his expectations for working with writer Park Ji-sook, noting, "I have worked on several dramas with Park Ji-sook over about 20 years, and it's very meaningful to be working together on a weekend drama after a long time."
He also cited a "rowdy family story that all viewers can enjoy" as the directing point. "It's true that the main audience for weekend dramas is middle-aged and older. But we strive to embrace younger viewers as well, and we aim for comfortable directing so the whole family can sit together and watch," he explained.
He then presented the viewing points of Recipe For Love as "a 30-year feud," "reconciliation," and "melodrama." "The long relationship and feud of more than 30 years between the two families, especially the parents' generation, and the process of reaching reconciliation after many twists and turns; the melodrama of the young protagonists; and the success stories of the design team members they belong to," he added, raising anticipation for the broadcast.
Regarding the actors' chemistry, he said, "I got the impression that the actors' chemistry was already about 90% complete even before the first script rehearsal. Their chemistry was exceptional, as if they had lived and worked together for months. As filming progressed, the synchronicity between the actors and their characters exceeded expectations, so I am very satisfied," describing the rapport with the actors.
Finally, director Han Jun-seo expressed his special affection for the work, saying, "If you are looking for an easy, comforting drama instead of heavy, dark genre work, and if you want to fully enjoy the actors' splendid performances and laugh and cry, our drama will offer a proper prescription to meet those expectations."
Meanwhile, a highlight video containing the turbulent saga of the two families' long-standing feud and the distinctive, colorful characters has been released, greatly arousing prospective viewers' anticipation.
