The group KiiiKiii returned with a clearer "color" amid musical expansion.
KiiiKiii (Jiyu, Lee Sol, Sui, Ha-eum, Kiya) held a showcase to commemorate the release of their mini album 2 "Delulu Pack" at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, starting at 2 p.m. on the 26th, and unveiled the title track "404 (New Era)" on stage for the first time.
On the day, Kiya said, "As it's been a long time since we released an album, this is an album we were very, very excited about. We prepared hard for a long time, so we will try to show good music and KiiiKiii's own color to fans and the public."
Ha-eum also said, "While preparing, we talked a lot about it being a new challenge. We prepared a lot among ourselves to show new and diverse sides. We will continue to try to show various aspects of KiiiKiii's 'Gen Z beauty.'"
KiiiKiii's mini album 2 "Delulu Pack" is an album that expresses KiiiKiii's new year wish to be able to exist freely anywhere as "the me of now" in their own way. It reflects KiiiKiii's assertive attitude of creating new scenes by overlaying color, texture and narrative rather than changing the framework of reality.
This album includes six tracks: the title track "404 (New Era)", "Delulu", "UNDERDOGS", "Meongnyang", "Dizzy" and "To Me From Me (Prod. TABLO)".
KiiiKiii delivers a wide range of sounds starting from disco and house to bass, hip-hop and retro pop, conveying a firm direction of "attitude over the right answer, humor over seriousness." Through this, they plan to expand their musical spectrum while further imprinting their color more clearly.
Jiyu described "Delulu Pack" as, "We used internet meme terms to share KiiiKiii's own fun and lighthearted fantasies. It's an album made like making a wish at the start of the new year."
The title track "404 (New Era)" starts from KiiiKiii's own language that reinterprets the error code "404 Not Found," which appears when a page cannot be found on a website, as "freedom existing without coordinates." Over upbeat rhythms of UK house and garage sounds, the members' powerful rapping and delicate vocals blend, and the lyrics cleverly portray a free existence outside the system.
About the title track that captures KiiiKiii's bold charm, Kiya explained, "We all gathered and heard the title track for the first time, and everyone unanimously said, 'This is really a fresh song. It's a new song we've never heard before.' I'm excited and thrilled because I think we'll be able to show a new side and color of KiiiKiii."
The album also includes "To Me From Me," a song worked on with Epik High member TABLO. Sui introduced the song, saying, "It's a retro pop sensibility I tried for the first time. It contains comfort and a short letter from my tomorrow to my today. We prepared it because we wanted to comfort many people with our own voice, so I hope many people listen to it."
KiiiKiii, who debuted in March last year, will celebrate their first anniversary two months later. Lee Sol said, "This year, a modest goal of ours is to have more time with our fans. This year's goal is to communicate with fans and share music up close, such as a solo fan concert or fan meeting."
Sui also said, "Along with wanting to increase the time we spend with our fans, our goal is to stand on big overseas festivals and various stages," adding, "I hope we can perform at large overseas festivals like Lollapalooza or Summer Sonic, where senior group IVE showed great stages."
Known as the epitome of "Gen Z beauty," KiiiKiii conveys their firm message through this album as well. Lee Sol said, "We are always grateful that one of the descriptors attached to our group is 'the epitome of Gen Z beauty,' and our goal is to make music that spans all generations."
Kiya also added, "Since our debut we have essentially delivered the message 'believe in yourself and move toward yourself,' so I hope people also listen to the message KiiiKiii wants to convey."
"Delulu Pack," where you can meet KiiiKiii's music and performance expanded with new colors, will be available on various music sites from 6 p.m. today.
