MBC Every1's 'Hidden Eye' episode 70 will air as scheduled at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.
The court on Jan. 26 rejected a petition for a preliminary injunction seeking to ban the broadcast of MBC Every1's 'Hidden Eye' filed by All Nations Pastor's Prayer House.
In today's (26th) 8:30 p.m. broadcast of 'Hidden Eye,' the program focuses on the 1999 incident in which 2,000 members of Manmin Central Church occupied a broadcasting station and interrupted MBC's PD Notebook broadcast. What the worshippers desperately tried to protect, even stopping the broadcast, was Lee Jae-rok, the Manmin Central Church pastor who was at the center of controversy over various alleged corruptions at the time.
The broadcast also covers criminal allegations such as sexual assault surrounding Lee Jae-rok. Among the victims were young women, and some are reported to have been worshippers who had attended the church since birth. Profiler Pyo Chang-won added analysis, saying, "It began as grooming crimes that led to conditioning and, after they became adults, proceeded to gaslighting."
More shocking is the allegation that there were accomplices who together planned all of this behind Lee Jae-rok. They acted as "prophets," claiming to hear and convey God's words directly, helping to deify Lee Jae-rok, and there are mentions of signs that they forced victims into silence and abetted the crimes. Kang Seung-yoon was quoted as saying, "This is a different level of crime," and was furious.
After Lee Jae-rok's arrest, his aides established Man-guk Church (All Nations Pastor's Prayer House), and there were signs that they praised Lee Jae-rok there as well.
Meanwhile, the 'Hidden Eye' production team said, "With this injunction dismissal reaffirming the public interest justification for the broadcast, we will continue to prioritize viewers' right to know and convey hidden truths objectively and fairly," and added, "We will also do our best to realize the public interest value of crime prevention and building social safety nets."
MBC Every1's 'Hidden Eye' will air at 8:30 p.m. on the 26th.
