Actor Lee Nayoung shared her feelings about returning to the drama 'Honor' after three years.
On the afternoon of the 26th, at The Saint in Guro-gu, Seoul, a production press conference was held for the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 'Honor: Their courtroom' (directed by Park Gun-ho, written by Park Ga-yeon, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by How Pictures). Director Park Gun-ho attended the production press conference along with actors Lee Nayoung, Jung Eun-Chae and Lee Chungah to discuss the show.
'Honor: Their courtroom' is a mystery pursuit about three female lawyers who confront a past that has returned as a massive scandal head-on, and Lee Nayoung drew attention by taking on a lawyer role for the first time since her debut. Lee Nayoung's character Yoon Ra-young is a 'hot celeb' lawyer with numerous followers who will serve as the external messenger for the women's crime victim–specialized law firm 'L&J(Listen and Join)'. She is a figure who draws the public's attention with outstanding speech and dazzling looks, but behind that glamour lies a cold ferocity and a desperate struggle that has tempered her at every moment, which also draws attention to Lee Nayoung's performance.
Lee Nayoung returns to the small screen through 'Honor' three years after the Wavve original 'Park Ha-kyung travelogue'. While her husband, actor Won Bin, has taken a 16-year hiatus and has shown a somewhat different path, Lee Nayoung explained her reason for choosing the work: "When I first read the script it read in one go like a detective novel. I was surprised because I was curious. There were many scenes with Park Ga-yeon writer's phrasing, a raw feel, but with depth," she said.
Lee Nayoung added, "I really enjoyed Director Park Gun-ho's previous work 'Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard', and there was overlap in the tones and things I liked. I felt I could trust the director and follow him, and the chemistry of Jung Eun-Chae and Lee Chungah, whom people often say are pretty and cool, felt like an unexpected freshness that might not mesh. I thought even I would be curious and want to see that picture. There are many reasons," she said.
On taking on her first lawyer role since debut, Lee Nayoung said, "I haven't played many professionals, but as you will see later in this work, it's not that there are many courtroom scenes because she's a lawyer; it felt more like the pursuit of truth and the case, with a feel of being a criminal defense attorney."
She said, "Personally, because my role is a lawyer who acts as an external messenger, there were many scenes in news studios and press conferences. Speaking out to the public, and the emotions and messages that need to be conveyed within that, we talked a lot about what tone and sound that would be. So I also studied vocalization a lot."
Meanwhile, the Genie TV original drama 'Honor: Their courtroom' is based on a Swedish drama of the same name. It will be released on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at 10 p.m. on Genie TV and ENA.
