'Affair revelation' that caused a stir, Kim Jiyeon decided to leave Busan with her son and head to Seoul.
Kim Jiyeon announced on the 25th via her personal social media that divorce proceedings with her husband, professional baseball player Jeong Cheolwon, are underway. She said, "After running away, he filed a lawsuit unilaterally seeking custody," and added, "As a mother, I felt I could no longer endure it. For the first and last time, I will fight to the end and try to win," drawing attention.
A graduate of Hanyang University's dance department, Kim Jiyeon became known through the Mnet variety show 'Love Catcher.' She later became involved with Lotte Giants pitcher Jeong Cheolwon, gave birth to a son in 2024, and held a wedding on Dec. 14 last year, 1 year and 4 months after the birth, forming a family. However, about a month after the wedding, news of a breakup shocked the public.
Kim Jiyeon publicly criticized Jeong Cheolwon's behavior for not being faithful to the family despite both spouses working. In response to a fan question asking, "Does your son recognize his father?" she replied, "He isn't home even in the off-season, so he doesn't know him well. I'm very sorry, but I will raise him thinking his father is not around," adding to the sadness.
Revelations about living expenses continued. Kim Jiyeon said, "Last year he personally used more than 30 million won of his annual salary, and he melted my son's first birthday ring and bracelet and added 5–6 million won to make a 10-don gold necklace," and "He claims he lost even my son's items although I want them returned." She also said, "I spent all my income on living expenses without pocket money, and I only asked for 500,000 won," and added, "I hid one of my son's first birthday rings and protected it."
Jeong Cheolwon began living in Busan after being traded from Doosan to the Lotte Giants after the 2024 season, and Kim Jiyeon also lived in Busan for about a year after giving birth. However, she decided to move her residence because of the current situation.
When asked, "Are you planning to move to Seoul?" Kim Jiyeon said, "Money is an issue no matter what I do, but fortunately the deposit is money I saved since I was single," and added, "I plan to return to Seoul with my son as soon as things are settled. This year I want to live as a stylish woman." She continued, "I really like Busan, but the child's face has become too well known. In the current situation, I think it's right to go to Seoul for the child," and added, "I can't move immediately, but I will share news as soon as it's decided."
