Actor Uhm Ji-won's restrained acting philosophy left a deep impression.
On the 24th, the KBS 1TV movie talk show "Life is a Movie" aired, portraying Uhm Ji-won's ongoing filmography as an actor who, even after winning the acting award, is waiting for and preparing for the best character to come.
The winner of the "2025 KBS acting awards," Uhm Ji-won, and MCs Uhm Ji-in and Bong Tae Gyu, Liner, and Geoui-eopdda joined the movie talk, delivering laughter and emotion throughout the broadcast.
When Bong Tae Gyu asked, "Don't you get the feeling while filming that you might win an award at the end of the year?" Uhm Ji-won said, "If I aim for an award, I avoid thinking about it because I don't want to get hurt." Over the years, Uhm Ji-won, who has chosen story over hype and character over star quality, has consistently been loved by many movie fans for presenting distinctive characters across a variety of genres.
Especially in works such as "Ddonggae," which featured impressive dialect acting; "Even though I don't really know," which showcased excellent improvisation; and "Wish," in which she conveyed extreme sincerity without makeup, Uhm Ji-won expressed affection for the many works and characters she has participated in and candidly reflected on her time as an actor.
In response, film critic Liner praised Uhm Ji-won as "an actor whose limits are hard to see," and Geoui-eopdda said, "Even if she bursts out brightly, she doesn't get tiresome." Bong Tae Gyu, who picked "Theatre War" as his one pick from Uhm Ji-won's filmography, praised her, saying, "She is someone who shows younger actors 'you can go this way too,'" commending her for taking on difficult new roles.
About "Eagle 5, please take care of them!," which earned her the acting award, Uhm Ji-won said, "The script was fun, and it was a warm story about people living their lives," adding, "Gwangsuk's energy is lovable and meddlesome, and that matched me the most."
Even after winning the acting award, Uhm Ji-won quietly waits for her next role, saying, "I haven't met the best character yet," and "Someday a role like Aesun will come to me, right?" expressing excitement and anticipation.
