'To My Beloved Thief' Moon Sang Min delivered a heartfelt marriage proposal to Nam Ji-hyun.
Episode 7 of KBS 2TV's weekend drama To My Beloved Thief, which aired on the 24th at 9:20 p.m. (written by Lee Seon, directed by Ham Young-geol), shook viewers' hearts as Dowoldaegun Yi-yeol (played by Moon Sang Min) threw a tender confession that crossed the limits of status to save Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun) from humiliation. Episode 7 recorded a 6.6% rating, and the scene in which Hong Eun-jo burns Yi-yeol's denial surged to a peak of 7.6% per minute. (Nielsen Korea, national households)
Back in his original body, Yi-yeol realized just before the souls switched back that someone had put a knife to Hong Eun-jo's throat and immediately ran to her. Holding the uninjured, perfectly fine Hong Eun-jo in his arms, Yi-yeol breathed a sigh of relief, and Hong Eun-jo, consoling him, also felt the soul had truly returned.
Because the soul swap led them to understand each other's worlds more deeply, Yi-yeol resolved to pull Hong Eun-jo out from the household of Dosungji Im Sa-hyeong (played by Choi Won-young), who despises and persecutes her. He then met Im Sa-hyeong, who had arrested him on charges of hiding Gil-dong, and secured a promise not to pursue the Gil-dong investigation any further in exchange for covering up Im Sa-hyeong's weakness, thereby protecting Hong Eun-jo's secret.
Free of the charges and a free man, Yi-yeol went to find Hong Eun-jo, who would be worried about him, shared what had happened when their souls were swapped, and told her to return to their respective daily lives. Yi-yeol also showed jealousy, likening Im Jae-i (played by Hong Min-gi), who had looked at Hong Eun-jo strangely while inhabiting her body, to a wolf and presenting a bolt to Hong Eun-jo as a gift.
Meanwhile, Yi-yeol waited for Hong Eun-jo's father, Hong Min-jik (played by Kim Seok-hoon), who did not yet know the truth about his daughter's marriage, to come to Hanyang, and prepared a marriage proposal to give to Hong Eun-jo. He decided on marriage to save Hong Eun-jo from the constraints of social status and long-standing customs and to turn her life full of misfortune into one of happiness.
But the moment of the proposal came unexpectedly because Yi-yeol, who saw Hong Eun-jo being assaulted by Im Seung-jae (played by Do Sang-woo), thought he should take her out of that house immediately. Yi-yeol handed Hong Eun-jo a proposal written with all his sincerity and reached out, saying, "I'm marrying you. This is my proposal."
Yi-yeol's heartfelt confession stirred a fierce storm in Hong Eun-jo's heart. Hong Eun-jo, too, had deeply felt Yi-yeol's sincerity in caring for and thinking of her since the soul swap. Unconcerned with the difference in status or people's gazes, Yi-yeol's gaze, filled only with affection, made Hong Eun-jo want to let go of everything and take his hand.
But at that moment, Im Jae-i interjected with the words, "You can't go. Not until you die in this house," creating a tense atmosphere. As a chill filled the space between Yi-yeol and Im Jae-i, who glared without backing down, viewers are left wondering whose hand Hong Eun-jo, confused between ideal and reality, will take.
