Group NEWBEAT proved its explosive popularity in China by gracing the cover of a Chinese fashion magazine.
NEWBEAT (Park Min-seok·Hong Min-seong·Jeon Yeo-yeo-jeong·Choi Seo-hyun·Kim Tae-yang·Jo Yoon-hoo·Kim Ri-woo) participated as the photo shoot models for the winter fourth-quarter issue of K!ND, a fashion and culture magazine most watched by China's new generation, showcasing the seven members' seven different charms. The photo shoot, originally planned as an online edition, was unusually produced as a print magazine after the public's immediate strong reaction from local fans.
This enthusiastic response had already been foreshadowed by NEWBEAT's earlier activities in China. After signing a management contract last year with Modern Sky, China's largest original music corporation, NEWBEAT began a full-scale local push and quickly built recognition across the continent.
When NEWBEAT first visited China, a large crowd gathered at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, which led to the group ranking 27th on Weibo's real-time search for entertainment and culture. Right after finishing their first showcase in China, they were praised as the "next-generation K-pop icon."
Riding that momentum, a dance challenge video featuring NEWBEAT that involved Chinese artists has recently become very popular on various Chinese social networks such as TikTok and Weibo. NEWBEAT's solid skills and trendy content usage seem to have created a synergy that rapidly increased their recognition across the continent.
NEWBEAT made a comeback last November with the mini album LOUDER THAN EVER, created in collaboration with well-known overseas producers, and stood out on global charts. The title track, Look So Good, sparked a reverse surge by topping six categories on Amazon Music in the U.S. On the 18th, they successfully concluded their first solo concert, which sold out all seats.
NEWBEAT plans to continue communicating with global fans through diverse online and offline activities.
