According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) integrated box office system, "Sinui Akdan" exceeded 600,000 cumulative admissions as of the afternoon of Jan. 24 (Sat). Since its Dec. 31 release, it achieved this valuable result in 25 days by steadily drawing audiences despite the onslaught of Hollywood blockbusters and strong new releases.
Unlike the typical trend of declining attendance in the fourth week after release, "Sinui Akdan" still showed strong ticket power on the weekend as family audiences and repeat viewers flocked to see it.
The reason the 600,000 milestone for "Sinui Akdan" is even more meaningful lies in its seat occupancy rate. Despite a relatively smaller number of screens compared with competing films, it maintained a high seat occupancy, creating the perception of a "film with no empty seats." Audience praise such as "a movie you end up recommending to people after watching once" and "the No. 1 movie I want to show my parents" has kept coming, serving as a solid pillar for long-term box office performance.
Along with news of surpassing 600,000 admissions, offline enthusiasm was also high. At the Seoul·Gyeonggi area stage greetings held on the 24th (Sat), director Kim Hyeong-hyeop and lead actors including Park Si-Hoo and Jeong Jin-woon all appeared to share joy with audiences.
