Comedian Yang Se-hyung recalled his father's last words, delivering a deep resonance.
The episode of MBC variety show Omniscient Interfering View that aired on the 24th revealed Yang Se-hyung's home. The video, which began with him reading in his study, calmly reflected his daily life.
Yang Se-hyung's stylist said, "He always carried books and newspapers. Until a few years ago it felt like he just carried them around, but these days he really reads them at home and actually reads them even during his schedule," she said. Manager Yoo Myung-jae also testified, "He always reads the paper even in the waiting room."
On hearing this, Song Eun I and Jun Hyun-moo joked, "Isn't he doing crossword puzzles?", "Isn't he checking today's horoscope?", drawing laughter.
But the scenes inside the house made the jokes seem out of place. Shelves packed with books regardless of genre and traces of reading left throughout the house caught the eye. Particularly striking was a single note written on a large whiteboard. On the board, the sentence "Last words – live meaningfully" was clearly written.
In response, Yang Se-hyung cautiously opened up as he recalled his father. He said, "After my father passed away, he appeared in my dream once, and in that dream he said exactly, 'This is a last word. Live meaningfully.'" He added, "I wrote down what I heard in the dream that morning right away, and it didn't fade, so I left it as it was."
Yang Se-hyung said, "My father suddenly became very ill, so in reality there was no time to hear something like last words," and added, "Maybe that's why that dream remains even clearer." Though it was a short sentence, it was a message that pierced his attitude toward life and his present.
Books, notes, and his father's single line. The episode left a deep impression as a moment that offered a glimpse into Yang Se-hyung's inner self and standards of life amid laughter.<
