'Miss Trot 4' contestant Yun Tae-hwa advanced to the third round of the main competition.
On the 22nd episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Miss Trot 4', the main competition's second round 1:1 death matches unfolded, and the head-to-head between Yun Tae-hwa and Kim Da-na drew great attention. As both were a 16-year veteran and a 17-year veteran respectively, with solid skills and deep emotion, even the masters reacted, saying "the choice is too difficult," and a tense match was expected.
Yun Tae-hwa chose Oh Seung-geun's 'Departing Beloved' for her performance. Yun Tae-hwa confessed, "When I first heard this song, I cried thinking of my grandmother," and said, "My grandmother gave me a lot of love. She would pick and boil herbs that were good for the throat herself. But she had a traffic accident while going to the mountain and passed away before I could see her last moments. Because of that guilt, I resolved to live more diligently," which brought tears to her eyes.
Yun Tae-hwa's performance led to deep immersion with a calm beginning. Restricting her emotions and carefully unfolding the song, she gradually built emotion as the song moved into the latter half, and at the climax she expressed aching sadness and intense longing as if they were exploding. The emotional line that alternated between restraint and explosion, solid vocal power, and heartfelt expressiveness came together to complete the stage like a drama.
After the performance, master Kim Hee-jae said, "In previous seasons you deeply moved us with 'Nimiyor', so I thought there would be that kind of emotion in this performance too. But I wondered, 'Huh, why is Yun Tae-hwa starting the song so calmly, unlike her?' Then as it reached the second verse and moved toward the climax, through this stage she seemed to show, 'I am Yun Tae-hwa,' again. I was moved by Yun Tae-hwa's deep emotion and voice," and applauded her sentiment.
Although Yun Tae-hwa unfortunately lost the head-to-head with Kim Da-na that day, her stage left a strong impression. After the end of the main competition's second round, she was selected as the second additional qualifier through master judging and achieved the advancement to the main competition's third round. Even in defeat, Yun Tae-hwa's heartfelt performance achieved a valuable result and is expected to be remembered as a representative emotional stage of 'Miss Trot 4'.
Meanwhile, prior to the main match that day, Yun Tae-hwa was revealed to have ranked fourth in the third-week national cheering vote that was released, marking a third straight week in the top five and showing that she was receiving enthusiastic support and backing from the public. <
