Park Na-rae, a comedian who suspended activities amid various controversies, has been spotted recently. Park Na-rae, who once leaned on alcohol, had her life twisted by alcohol, but she still cannot give it up.
Until March 3, before the former managers' revelations, Park Na-rae was much loved for her image of taking good care of people. And at the center of that was "Narae bar." She invited guests to the home-set "Narae bar" to have pleasant times and socialized with people, and she even published a book themed on "Narae bar." Even after moving, "Narae bar" remained central, and "Narae bar" was a constant presence on various entertainment shows. Park Na-rae even expanded "Narae bar" and opened a YouTube channel called "Naraesik," a concept in which people eat and drink while talking.
Although Park Na-rae once leaned on alcohol, ironically her fate became, so to speak, tangled because of alcohol. In this dispute, which began with allegations of workplace harassment and unpaid wages, the former managers have accused Park Na-rae of special injury, defamation, violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, among other charges. Park Na-rae has also filed a countersuit against the former managers, accusing them of attempted extortion and embezzlement in relation to their duties, and has taken a hard-line response.
In the process, Park Na-rae's "alcohol" problem emerged. The managers, who said they were forced into drinking situations, told to run errands for side dishes, made to clean up after parties, and even forced to act as household helpers for the family outside of work hours, claimed they were verbally abused for not drinking or were injured by thrown glasses, and reportedly submitted medical injury certificates to the police.
Despite having suffered greatly because of alcohol, Park Na-rae still cannot give it up. Ironically, the first place she was photographed after suspending activities was an educational institute that teaches how to brew traditional liquors such as makgeolli and dongdongju. The academy, which is known to have Park Na-rae attending classes once a week, offers lectures divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, and is reported to cover a variety of alcohol types including traditional liquor, baijiu, and wine.
Park Na-rae attended the academy accompanied by a man. The man, about 180 cm tall and handsome and neat in appearance, is known to be an acquaintance who has stayed by Park Na-rae's side in the absence of a manager. The man explained Park Na-rae's condition and her reason for attending the academy, saying, "Park Na-rae is currently going through a very difficult and emotionally trying time. To relieve that even a little, she carefully chose one of the things she is interested in after thoughtful consideration."
Having tried various activities such as cooking, fashion, exercise, wallpapering, gardening, and flower arranging, Park Na-rae chose a makgeolli brewing class, saying, "I have to do something." The ironic choice of Park Na-rae, who 'leaned on alcohol' — it's hard to decide whether to applaud this as love, passion, or craftsmanship for alcohol.
