On the 23rd at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, an interview was held with Go Youn-jung, the lead actor of the Netflix series "Is this love interpretable?" (hereinafter "Isatit").
"Is this love interpretable?" (written by Hong Jung-eun·Hong Mi-ran, directed by Yoo Young-eun) is a work that depicts an unpredictable romance that unfolds when multilingual interpreter Joo Hojin (played by Kim Seon-ho) becomes the interpreter for global top star Cha Mu-hee (played by Go Youn-jung).
Go Youn-jung played Cha Mu-hee, a global top star who receives love from around the world, and delicately portrayed the character's complex emotional lines hidden beneath a glamorous exterior, showing renewed flair in the romantic comedy genre. She expressed the process of recognizing her own feelings with detailed expressiveness, displaying a variety of charms ranging from loveliness to seriousness.
In the drama, Cha Mu-hee is an "active type" in love who even goes to Japan to meet an ex-boyfriend. In relation to this, when asked Go Youn-jung whether she is also active in love in real life, she laughed and said, "I think I'm active. But I don't think I'd go to Japan to find an ex-boyfriend."
She continued, "Actually, that surprised me too. It made sense because Mu-hee is clumsy in love and is a character who hasn't received stable love. In real life, I try to do things without regret, both before and after meeting someone. I tend to be a bit more honest and proactive so I don't have the feeling of 'I should have treated them a little better.' That way I don't have regrets," she said honestly.
Go Youn-jung, who played both Cha Mu-hee and Do Ra-mi in a dual role, performed contrasting character acting. He said, "Playing Do Ra-mi was a bit easier. I naturally can't speak indirectly very well, and I also have trouble understanding when others speak indirectly. There were difficult aspects to Mu-hee's lines because she speaks so indirectly. Because I spent a lot of time analyzing the internal meaning behind what that character said, Do Ra-mi, who is straightforward, consistent and simple, was actually easier to act. She is such a free spirit it was fun. I think I'm closer to Do Ra-mi too," she explained.
In particular, Go Youn-jung also handles strong profanity in the drama. Regarding this, Go Youn-jung said, "I really want to do a comedy film. The tempo is fast, curses are rampant. I want to try a free genre. Actually, some of the curses were ad-libbed. I think I have a knack for it. Among the seniors, aren't there people whose swearing is really crisp? I referred to them and wondered which awkward curses were what, and what natural curses would feel like," she said, drawing attention.
