SEVENTEEN members Dohyun and Seungkwan of 'Meboz' are captivating global fans' eyes and ears with a genre-spanning "Blue" vocal challenge.
The duet challenge released on the 22nd by singer WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon) and Dohyun is undoubtedly the talk of the town. WOODZ's signature sharp high notes and Dohyun's refreshing tone blended to give "Blue" new charm. Seungkwan teamed up with singer-songwriter Ha Hyun Sang. The emotional chemistry the two built while working together on the solo track "Raindrops (SEUNGKWAN Solo)" was fully reflected in the challenge.
Artists from a variety of genres reinterpreting "Blue" have also received a positive response. Emotional craftsmen such as Baek Z Young, Kim Tae Woo, and Heize, as well as Daybreak, who arranged the original into a band sound, and george and SOLE, who added R&B's characteristic vocal techniques, each brought distinct personalities and abilities to their challenge videos, adding listening pleasure. The participation of virtual artist Hebi and PLAVE members Yejun·Noah, who boast an original worldview, also stands out.
Dohyun and Seungkwan's challenge is also steadily increasing in views. Following a pre-release video that surpassed 180 million views ahead of the album release, another recent challenge exceeded 100 million views. The song has also rooted itself in the upper ranks of the charts, continuing its momentum as a "popular pick." "Blue" reached No. 1 on YouTube Korea's "trending music" and Instagram's "rising audio," and all tracks from the album, including "Blue," entered the top 10 on Circle Chart's latest weekly download chart (tracking period Jan. 11-17).
Dohyun and Seungkwan are set to showcase their "Meboz"-style vocal skills today (23) on the popular YouTube channel Dingo Music's program "Easel Live 2." A teaser released the day before featured the two singing their first duet and a track included on SEVENTEEN's first full-length album, "Say Yes," raising anticipation for the full episode.
