BTS's fifth full-length album "ARIRANG" began a streak of record achievements even before its release.
On the 21st (local time), according to global audio and music streaming platform Spotify, "ARIRANG" (Arirang) rose to No. 1 on the "Countdown Charts Global." The chart aggregates works that have been pre-saved the most worldwide ahead of an album or single release, serving as an indicator of global music fans' level of interest.
"ARIRANG" marked a rapid start by surpassing 1 million pre-saves on Spotify just two days after pre-saves began on the 16th, and by the fourth day it exceeded 2 million, showing steady growth. It also held the No. 1 spot consecutively from days 2 through 6 on the daily "Top 10 Countdowns." BTS stood out overwhelmingly among well-known artists preparing comebacks such as Bruno Mars and Charli XCX.
The work with the most pre-saves in Spotify history is Taylor Swift's 12th full-length album "The Life of a Showgirl," released on Oct. 3 last year (about 6 million). BTS's new release is about two months away from release, and attention is focused on whether they will break their own record.
"ARIRANG," which is drawing explosive interest, will be released on March 20. Attention is focused on the new records they will write with the release, the milestones they will set, and the footprints they will leave in music history.
Meanwhile, BTS's "ARIRANG" will contain a total of 14 tracks. The new record is expected to resonate with global music fans by addressing the group's identity, longing, and deep love—universal emotions. After the new release, they will embark on a large-scale world tour starting April 9 at the main stadium of Goyang Sports Complex.
