Comedian Lee Sung-joo opened up about how he changed careers to become a private detective after his wife's affair.
On the 21st, a video titled "If these 5 signs are present, the affair is 100%" was posted on the YouTube channel "Jisangryeol's designated driver." The video featured SBS public recruitment class 8 comedian Lee Sung-joo, who appeared and talked with Jisangryeol about recent events.
That day Lee Sung-joo introduced himself as "now not a comedian but someone who eradicates affairs," revealing that he is working as a private detective. He said, "Many victims of affairs ask me to find evidence. That's because I am a victim of an affair," and confessed, "After 11 years of marriage, my wife's infidelity completely destroyed my life."
He went on, "Because of that I attempted an extreme choice six times. But seeing my parents and children crying, I thought, 'I have to live to save my children.' From then on I began a second life," he revealed.
Recalling the time, Lee Sung-joo also gave specific details. He said, "My son had tic disorder, so we moved to live in Goesan, Chungbuk, and my wife started working in real estate. But her behavior became strange. Credit card bills increased, and she kept telling me to go meet friends. When I became suspicious, she instead treated me as an obsessive, a lunatic, and gaslighted me," he claimed.
He said he eventually confirmed the affair through a location-tracking app: "An alarm went off in the early morning and when I checked, there was a record showing she had gone to the real estate man's house and then returned. I immediately drove to the house, and she was passed out drunk and her underwear had been changed," he said. He added, "Even then she kept insisting, 'You're the strange one,' and pushed the blame onto me."
Having lost his family and reached the edge of life, he later got back up for his children. Lee Sung-joo calmly said, "By day I worked delivery part-time, at night I did another part-time job, and I also started YouTube. My son is now a high school second-year student and my daughter is in the third year of middle school. I raised them really hard on my own."
Lee Sung-joo has now obtained a detective license and is active as a private detective. He said, "In the past we were called a 'private investigation group,' but now detectives have been legalized. It's a role like a private police," and added, "I want to speak up on behalf of victims of affairs."
After hearing his junior's story, Jisangryeol said, "Living an ordinary life is really not easy," and encouraged Lee Sung-joo with a high five.
Meanwhile, Lee Sung-joo debuted in 2006 as part of SBS public recruitment class 8 and was active on the show "Laugh and Find It," and he now runs the YouTube channel "Hunter dinosaur dad catching affairs," where he communicates with 170,000 subscribers.
