Choo Shin-soo's wife, Ha Won-mi, revealed that she once paid a fine after being stopped by police while driving in the United States.
On the 21st, a video titled "[U.S. episode] I trained driving and had a big fight with Choo Shin-soo" was uploaded to Ha Won-mi's YouTube channel.
That day Ha Won-mi appeared in the garage of her Texas home. She explained, "Today I'm going to be a bit active and take our Geon-woo out to practice driving."
Ha Won-mi said, "Our Geon-woo is now 15 years old by U.S. age. In the U.S., when you turn 15 you get a permit (learner's permit). Once you have a permit, if a parent has held a Texas driver's license for more than five years, they can teach their child to practice driving. So I'm going to have him practice driving a bit."
The producer asked, "How long have you had your license?" and Ha Won-mi replied, "Good question. I first got one in Korea in my first year of university. I've had a Texas license since 2014, so it's been a long time," revealing she has 12 years of U.S. driving experience.
In particular, Ha Won-mi said, "If I had moved from another state and only had a Texas license for one year, then I couldn't. Then you'd have to leave the child with someone else or send them to a driving school," explaining the U.S. licensing system differs from Korea.
The producer asked, "Do licenses differ by state?" and Ha Won-mi answered, "They all differ." The producer then asked, "So if I got a license in Texas and then moved elsewhere, would I have to get that state's license?" and Ha Won-mi explained, "Some states just transfer it, and some require you to 'get it again from the beginning' — it's all different."
She added, "But if you don't change it and drive and get pulled over by the police, you'll get fined," and warned, "I used to have an Arizona license because my home was in Arizona, but when I was driving around Cleveland while my husband was there I got stopped (by police). So I was fined."
Meanwhile, Ha Won-mi married Choo Shin-soo in 2004 and they have two sons and one daughter.
