Actor Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho will play a married couple in Netflix's "Beef" season 2.
According to U.S. outlet Variety on the 21st, Netflix released first-look images for "Beef" season 2, scheduled to be released on April 16.
The released teaser images include Charles Melton weight training, Kailey Spany making a worried face on a hospital bed, Oscar Isaac driving a golf cart, and Carey Mulligan contemplating a facelift, drawing attention.
In particular, Youn Yuh-jung, who won an Academy Award for the film "Minari," appears as chairman Park in "Beef" season 2, and Song Kang-ho, a star of the film "Parasite," appears as Dr. Kim.
Previously, Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho worked together in the 2011 film "Blue Salt," and Youn Yuh-jung said in an interview with Collider last year, "My character is a billionaire chairwoman and her husband is 20 years younger. It was a very interesting setup," and added, "In reality, Mr. Song Kang-ho and I have exactly a 20-year age difference. I'm very curious and excited to see how we will play a married couple."
She added, "This role was a different challenge from before," and said, "I was happy to be able to act with Song Kang-ho."
Meanwhile, "Beef," which swept the Emmys with season 1, moves its stage to the elite world of a country club in season 2 and will portray a "chess game of favors and coercion" surrounding a Korean billionaire owner.
This season consists of eight 30-minute episodes. Producer Lee Sung-jin returns as showrunner and executive producer, and season 1 leads Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are also listed as executive producers. Lead actors Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Kailey Spany also participate in production, and the production company is A24.
