(continuing from interview ①) Kim Seon-ho mentioned his actual dating style.
On the 22nd, an interview with lead actor Kim Seon-ho of the Netflix series "Is this love interpretable?" (hereafter "Is This Love?" ) was held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
"Is this love interpretable?" (written by Hong Jung-eun · Hong Mi-ran, directed by Yoo Young-eun) is a work that depicts an unpredictable romance that unfolds when multilingual interpreter Joo Hojin (played by Kim Seon-ho) takes on the interpretation for global top star Cha Mu-hee (played by Go Youn-jung).
Kim Seon-ho plays Joo Hojin, a multilingual interpreter who is clumsy in the language of love. As Hojin, an interpreter fluent in six languages including English, Japanese and Italian, Kim Seon-ho shows a serious side while adding depth to Hojin's cautious character in his relationship with Mu-hee, increasing immersion.
When asked about the character, "Wasn't it frustrating?", Kim Seon-ho admitted, "I also felt a bit frustrated while acting. It was the first time I encountered such a character. He's the complete opposite of me."
He continued, "I tend to try to ease things with soft words to resolve conflicts. Hojin has shortcomings in accepting, interpreting and expressing. So in the early stages we gathered with the director and writers and had many discussions about this character. If Hojin doesn't hold the center no matter how you read it, the individual communication and character portrayal veer off in another direction," he recalled.
He added, "There can be frustrating parts. If you look closely, from the Canada scenes I try to open up my heart and express myself. Outside the script too. Even scenes of going to the market were done a bit more gently than in the script. Because if it was only that side it wouldn't be good, so we made it well."
He especially spoke about his real dating style. Kim Seon-ho laughed, "I thought about it, when I was young it was 'Like you? Then let's date!' but now I think I need a lot more time. Conversations are needed. Interests must match. It takes a little time for me to feel attracted to someone. I think this changes gradually as you get older."
He also said, "Conversation probably needs to go well. Leaving dating aside, when two people meet there are those who communicate well and those who don't. There are people who get along well without trying, smiling naturally. Whether opposite or same sex. Meeting someone you can talk well with is fun," and added, "To be honest, I think I'm the type lacking in courage. I've been like that since I was young. I'm the type that needs a bit more time."
