The film shaking 2026, "Samakdo," has set its release date for March 11 and unveiled its launching poster.
The film "Samakdo" (director Chae Ki-jun, produced by Film Company Judan Co., distributed by The Contents ON) depicts hell witnessed in a village sealed with prophecies and secrets surrounding a cult that disappeared after the Japanese colonial period.
The newly released launching poster concentrates attention by conveying an eerie, mysterious atmosphere with the title at the top and the visual occupying the bottom. The most striking element is the silhouettes of three figures seated around what appears to be an altar, performing a secretive ritual. Set against a pitch-black space, the tense image raises questions about what ritual they are performing and for what purpose. Furthermore, the reality of the cult "Samseondo," sealed since the Japanese colonial period, and the chilling truth surrounding it heighten expectations for the film.
Actor Jo Yun-seo plays the role of Chae So-yeon, the producer of an investigative news program relentlessly tracking the reality of "Samseondo." Through films such as "The Mathematician in a Strange Land," "The Owl," and the drama Welcome to Samdal-ri, Jo Yun-seo has shown impressive performances, and as her character gets closer to the truth about the cult, she completely portrays someone who loses her bearings, dragging audiences fearlessly into the world of "Samakdo."
Also, Kwak Si-yang plays Matsuda, a Japanese reporter who provides tips about the cult "Samseondo" and accompanies the reporting team. Known for a range of works including "You Will Die in 6 Hours," "Operation Chromite: Forgotten Heroes" and "The Witness," Kwak Si-yang will once again deliver a heavy presence with a compelling performance.
