Actor Ko Kyung-pyo explained why he did not attend the production presentation for Undercover Miss Hong.
On the 20th, Channel Fifteen aired a live broadcast titled "Undercover Miss Hong Park Shinhye X Ko Kyung-pyo and end-of-century sentiment live" featuring Park Shinhye and Ko Kyung-pyo, the leading actors of the tvN weekend drama Undercover Miss Hong.
That day, producer Na Young-seok, looking at Ko Kyung-pyo who appeared on the live show with blond hair, said, "When you were filming something else a little while ago you could have just come as you were after spraying hair powder, so why did you go to the hair salon to wash your hair again? Is there a reason?" showing surprise.
In response, Ko Kyung-pyo said, "Because Shinhye changed her hair to a pretty orange color. I wanted to match her. I wanted to feel a sense of kinship with Shinhye."
Park Shinhye also said, "I told him to 'wash your hair and come,' so he washed it and came. Originally, the clothes were CEO Shin Jeong-woo's look— the three-piece jacket—" indicating that she had come dressed and styled as her character in the drama.
Producer Na Young-seok asked, "Wouldn't it be better to come like that for publicity?" and Ko Kyung-pyo confessed, "That may be, but there is a reason. I should have done all of that at the drama production presentation. We should have shot the promotional content we planned to film today at the production presentation, but I could not attend the drama production presentation."
He recounted, "That day I suddenly fell ill in the early morning and experienced acute gastritis and enteritis at the same time. Some of you may be eating right now so I won't go into details. I became dehydrated. From top to bottom, it was like that. Do you know what I mean? I became dehydrated and was in a state of exhaustion, so I was put in an ambulance that day. I called 119 for the first time in my life. The abdominal pain was so severe and the abdominal distension was so bad that my stomach swelled up like this."
Hearing this, producer Na Young-seok was surprised and asked, "How could that happen? Did you eat something bad?" and Ko Kyung-pyo replied, "I guess a lot of inflammation had built up in my body over time. Stress, too," revealing the cause.
Producer Na Young-seok worried, "But if dehydration led to an ambulance being called, isn't that really serious?" and Ko Kyung-pyo said, "I usually don't cancel schedules for being sick, but at that time I simply couldn't go," indicating it was more serious than expected.
Meanwhile, Undercover Miss Hong, starring Park Shinhye and Ko Kyung-pyo, is a retro office comedy set in the late 1990s in which a 30-something elite securities inspector Hong Geum-bo goes undercover as a 20-year-old junior employee at a securities firm where suspicious funds were detected, leading to chaotic events. It airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 p.m.
