Actress Hwang Bo-ra revealed why she wants a second child.
On the 21st, Hwang Bo-ra appeared as a guest on SBS LoveFM's 'Yoo Min-sang's hungry radio' channel and talked.
That day Yoo Min-sang said, "Bora recently started a YouTube channel showing her daily life," mentioning "Boraity," and Hwang Bo-ra complained, "This is my first time promoting it but the subscriber count just passed 10,000. Why is it so hard?"
She said, "The reason I started this is that the baby is 19 months old and my husband is the captain of childcare. But he only gives orders and has low participation. If I say let's go somewhere, let's go to a kids' cafe, let's go to the zoo, he doesn't want to go. I thought if I put it on YouTube my husband might go. I tried leaving it on YouTube. I thought if I combine childcare and YouTube my husband would help businesswise, so I tried a childcare YouTube, but it's harder. It's hard to do it together while filming. The child suddenly acts, so you have to stick the camera in suddenly, but then he won't do it. It's hard," and added, "Also I film alone and my husband doesn't appear. But viewers clearly like it when I struggle and have a hard time. They don't like it when it's easy."
Yoo Min-sang said, "The baby is 19 months old, and you always say parenting is hard, but you said you're planning a second child," referring to Hwang Bo-ra's recent revelation that she plans a second child.
In response Hwang Bo-ra said, "The more difficult the child is, the cuter they are. The harder it is, the cuter. I am an only child and felt very lonely until marriage. I felt the burden that my parents had to be protected solely by me. So I wanted to get married quickly to escape loneliness. Our Woo-in will be alone too. When they grow up, cousins and everything else don't matter. Ha Jung-woo hasn't married either, so when will cousins be born? So I decided to push for a second child quickly this time, but I heard very bad results at the hospital," she confessed.
Yoo Min-sang said, "It's not easy, right?" and Hwang Bo-ra said, "I'm already 43. I married at 40 and had my first child at 42. It's too late," and teased, "Brother, get married soon," drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Hwang Bo-ra married actor and film producer Cha Hyun-woo (real name Kim Young-hoon), the second son of actor Kim Yong-gun and younger brother of Ha Jung-woo, in 2022. Afterwards, through in vitro fertilization she welcomed her first son Woo-in in 2024, and she recently revealed on her YouTube channel that she is planning a second child. But before in vitro fertilization, she was shocked by test results at an infertility clinic showing her ovarian function had declined to the level of early menopause.
Hwang Bo-ra received a prescription for female hormones but the follicles did not grow, and she worried, "This month seems the worst. I wonder if I'm doing this out of greed." She also said, "I won't give up on what I've started," but confessed a conflicted feeling, "I wonder if I should be satisfied living just seeing Woo-in."
