Group aespa member Karina displayed an overwhelming presence alongside a luxury brand.
Karina graced the cover of fashion magazine Esquire's February issue.
In an interview conducted with the photo shoot, Karina, when asked if she seemed bold, said, "It looks like that, but I'm actually the member who gets the most nervous on stage," and said, "Even now, when I go on stage my hands get cold and damp to the point where they get moist. But once the performance starts I'm fine, and by the end I'm so excited that I'm laughing."
That day Karina explained changes in the way she works that come with experience. Karina said, "As the years accumulate there have been more opportunities to talk with the company," adding, "We try out choreography ourselves to the songs the company selects to check the overall feel and then give our opinions."
She also said about her recently released solo song "GOOD STUFF," "I participated in the overall aspects from the lyrics and choreography to the stage direction, costumes and camera angles," and said, "For performance I like hip-hop, for singing slowly I like R&B and jazz, and because I like singing in a rock ballad style, elements like that are somewhat mixed into the solo song. It's because there are many things I want to try."
In particular, in this interview Karina said about how she perceives herself, "I think Karina is 'awakened Yu Jimin,'" and said, "My credo is that even while living as a celebrity I must not forget that I'm Yu Jimin, my parents' daughter."
That day Karina herself became an editor and filmed a video experiencing writing an article for Esquire, and the article was posted on Esquire's website on the 18th. About this, Karina said, "I wrote an article about the foods I like and tips for my Instagram feed," adding, "For my Instagram feed I post one wide-angle photo and what you might call a slightly 'annoying'(?) photo, meaning a comic pose photo imitating a famous meme or funny image."
She added, "The theme of the food article was samgyeopsal, and I chose the theme 'pig shortcut' to convey that there are shortcuts even for food," and said, "I wrote my own way of enjoying samgyeopsal deliciously."
