Group SEVENTEEN members Dokyeom and Seungkwan have started to conquer karaoke. The new title track "Blue" has risen from "pleasant music" to "a song people want to sing."
Since releasing their mini album 1, "Soyagok," on the 12th, Dokyeom and Seungkwan have presented numerous audience-participation contents. Earlier, the "Blue" duet challenge, in which fans could harmonize with the two members respectively, drew an explosive reaction on social media, and recently released karaoke-related content has become a hot topic online. The video, which recreated a "B-grade sensibility" with accompaniment that presses each note honestly and unexpectedly unfolding scenes of the great outdoors, was noted as an entertaining point.
Thanks to the unique contents, the "Blue" challenge is gaining momentum again. The high vocal range, long breath control and delicate emotional expression required make it an element that stimulates the desire to take on the challenge. As the challenge revives, the song's streaming has naturally spread by word of mouth. In fact, "Blue" reached No. 1 on Instagram's "rising popular audio" as the duet challenge spread, and also topped YouTube's "rising music." In addition, attention is focused on whether "Blue" can enter the ranks of "karaoke favorites," a representative indicator used to gauge the commercial success of ballads.
Content that places "Blue" into everyday moments has also been well received. The YouTube channel "Neodult" drew viewers' sympathy by using the song's lyrics to portray regret felt immediately after a breakup in a comic short movie. It was an example where the synergy of music themed on "ordinary love" and reality-based content shone. Dokyeom and Seungkwan appeared in this video themselves, increasing its entertainment value. On social media, short-form videos inserting "Blue" into personal love stories, such as "breakup stories" and "ex-boyfriend stories," are spreading.
Dokyeom and Seungkwan plan to continue promoting the success of "Blue" with various contents in the future. Tomorrow (22nd), Seungkwan's web variety show "Buseungkwan's Bbibidi Babidi Boo" will feature Dokyeom as a guest, showcasing their unique back-and-forth rapport. On the 23rd, "Hyel's Club," featuring Dokyeom, will meet viewers.
