Group ENHYPEN member Jake demonstrated further developed musical abilities.
Jake appeared on "Limousine Service," uploaded on the YouTube channel KBS Kpop on the 20th. He not only shared the behind-the-scenes of working on "Sleep Tight," his first self-composed song included on ENHYPEN's mini album 7 "THE SIN : VANISH," but also performed a total of six songs live, showcasing top-tier vocal ability.
Jake stripped away the original song's rich sound and sang "Sleep Tight" accompanied only by piano keys. With a groovy rhythm and Jake's distinctive trendy vocals, the stage forced full focus on his voice alone. He noted, "ENGENE (the fandom name) members even tell me, 'Don't even dream, just sleep well,' looking out for my health," and introduced the hidden meaning in the lyrics, saying, "It's content that says the opposite to ENGENE."
Also, Jake reinterpreted songs in his own style, including Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," which he sang at his audition, Corinne Bailey Rae's "Like a Star," LIL MALA's "On the street," Colde's "Warru ♥," and Bazzi's "Young & Alive," demonstrating a wide spectrum. After listening to Jake's songs, Lee Moo-jin praised, "(Just from the vocals) the tone makes you think of an attractive person," adding, "The meticulousness in aiming for accurate pronunciation layered with his unique tone conveys boyish charm."
Jake also participated in producing "The catalyst of the incident" in this "THE SIN : VANISH" in addition to "Sleep Tight." He emphasized, "(Going forward) I want to do more music work," saying, "While working on 'THE SIN : VANISH,' I felt the thrill that creative challenges bring."
ENHYPEN, which Jake belongs to, released mini album 7 "THE SIN : VANISH" on the 16th and is carrying out active promotions. The title track "Knife" is a hip-hop genre song that expresses confidence to confront and not yield to any threat. As ENHYPEN said, "We prepared with the mindset of sharpening a knife," the condensed powerful energy in the vocals and the precise group choreography have combined into a highly polished performance that is receiving acclaim from global fans.
