In fact, chef Hou Deok-juk confessed that he wanted to go home during Culinary Class Wars 2. He said, "At my age, wouldn't it be hard to go? It was actually harder than I thought. Even watching the young friends who competed, I felt, why are they having such a hard time compared to me. Still, I thought I do have some stamina."
He continued, "When we competed as a team that day it was really hard. Filming continued from morning until dawn. We won the first round by a large margin so I thought 'we'll win easily,' but toward the end it became a situation where the outcome could be decided by one person's vote."
Above all, chef Hou Deok-juk confessed, "At that moment I thought, 'It might be better to be eliminated,'" which drew laughter.
However, chef Hou Deok-juk kept winning successive rounds and made it to the final top three of Culinary Class Wars 2.
