Lee Soo-yeon overcame a crisis and delivered a highly polished performance.
Lee Soo-yeon appeared on MBN King of Singers 3, which aired on the 20th, and performed in the second-round competition. The second preliminary round 1 mission proceeded as a "mini concert black knight," in which active singers formed a team to complete a performance and recruited a male artist as the black knight to collaborate on the stage. Lee Soo-yeon ranked third overall in the first preliminary round and was selected as the leader, and she consecutively recruited Kim Tae-yeon, Soul-G, and Kan Miyoun as team members to form "Oh! Miso sisters."
While preparing the stage and selecting black knight candidates, Lee Soo-yeon suffered a coccyx injury and Soul-G injured her knee, putting them in crisis. In response, Lee Soo-yeon said, "I felt so sorry to my older sisters because even if I wanted to show a spectacular performance, it was difficult to stage it together. I will give everything I have left and go up with my sisters," vowing to break through the crisis head-on.
The "Oh! Miso sisters" team captivated viewers by presenting a skit about Kan Miyoun and Soul-G heading to a factory for the students Lee Soo-yeon and Kim Tae-yeon, who were devoted to their studies. They opened the stage with beautiful harmonies, arranging their first song "Four Seasons" like a musical to evoke deep empathy.
Then when Kan Miyoun and Soul-G showcased their clear tones and performance through "Seoul's maiden," Lee Soo-yeon and Kim Tae-yeon provided perfect chorus and harmonies in support, demonstrating tight teamwork.
Their individual stage performances also stood out. Lee Soo-yeon overwhelmed the stage by expressing the sorrow of living away from home with a powerful voice that was hard to believe came from an 11-year-old through her solo song "Moon of Seoul." That heat intensified as Kim Tae-yeon's "Sae Taryeong" and Soul-G with black knight Lim Han-byeol's "Gwiro" followed.
The highlight was the group song "Love." Lee Soo-yeon, who perfectly handled retro dance and dance trot while breathing with the audience, soothed the audience once again with the final song "If You Live Long Enough," proving her exceptional skills.
Watching their performance, Joo Hyun-mi praised, "I was worried when I saw the song list about how these songs would connect, but as I entered the story, they flowed so well that I was surprised. The most lovable part was that popular songs with elaborate harmonies are rare, but they matched the harmonies and I enjoyed watching it," and composer Yoon Myung-sun said, "Everytime during the stage there were unique ideas that raised concentration and prevented boredom."
As favorable reviews from active singers and the celebrity judging panel continued, the scores were revealed and "Oh! Miso sisters" finished the round in third place with 207 points. Lee Soo-yeon comforted her teammates, saying, "We can turn it around in the ace match, the second round," and vowed to create a reversal next week, raising expectations to a peak.
