Actor Nam Sang-ji displays contrasting charms in "Red Pearl."
The new KBS 2TV daily drama Red Pearl (directed by Kim Seong-geun, written by Kim Seo-jeong), set to premiere on Feb. 23 at 7:50 p.m., is a meticulous and intense tale of revenge alliance in which two women who return under false identities uncover the sins and truth hidden in the Adele household.
Nam Sang-ji plays Baek Jin-joo, who, after losing her family in an unexpected accident, abandons her name and identity and lives as world-renowned brand consultant "Chloe Lee" to exact revenge. Viewers will see the formerly innocent college student Baek Jin-joo before she is swept into the whirlpool of fate and the markedly changed appearance she shows after vowing revenge, delivering a surprising charm to home audiences.
Meanwhile, today (the 22nd), the first stills of Nam Sang-ji as Baek Jin-joo were released. In the released stills, Nam Sang-ji captures Jin-joo's lovable charm with a bright smile in a relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, the images raise questions about what story led Baek Jin-joo to vow revenge.
Nam Sang-ji vividly portrays a wide range of facets, from the romantic image of a college student pursuing her dreams to the intense side that throws everything away and runs solely for revenge. She is also expected to flexibly navigate the heartrending emotions that waver before love, drawing viewers into the story.
Having won viewers' love in each project with stable acting, Nam Sang-ji showcases a cold revenge drama, wistful melodrama and even the healing process of finding her true self in Red Pearl. The variety of charms meeting Nam Sang-ji's signature chameleonlike acting raises expectations for what kind of synergy will be created in the broadcast.
