The backbiting between pop star Taylor Swift and actor Blake Lively was exposed.
On the 20th (local time), Page Six reported that new court documents revealed text messages in which Blake Lively and Taylor Swift criticized actor-director Justin Baldoni as a "clown" and a "son of a bitch."
According to Page Six, Lively sent a text to Swift calling Baldoni, the director and co-star of the film "It Ends With Us," "the dumb director of my movie." In those documents, Baldoni's lawyers claim that in April 2023 Lively asked Swift to support a draft script she had not even read, and that Swift responded favorably.
Court documents also say Swift responded to Lively's request by texting, "I'll do anything for you."
The documents also include that at a meeting with Baldoni held at Lively's apartment, Swift supported Lively's revised script, after which Lively sent Swift the following text.
According to the report, the text read, "Today you were truly heroically narrative. You summarized every moment for Ryan Reynolds. I kept thinking about it. You made up that lens story with me. And you called yourself my doll. This clown believed it all. But at the same time resisted. You are literally the best friend in the world."
In another text, Swift also criticized Baldoni's strategic use of Swift's song in the film.
Also, in December 2024, before The New York Times exposé was published, Swift texted Lively, "This son of a bitch seems to know something is coming. So he pulled out a tiny violin," while Lively denied ever discussing the Swift and New York Times article with Swift.
Swift's spokesperson said, "Taylor Swift never set foot on this film's set, was not involved in casting or creative decisions, did not work on the film's music, did not see or provide feedback on any cuts, and only watched the film weeks after it was released. She was also touring the world as the headliner of the biggest tour in history in 2023 and 2024."
Baldoni's side alleges that Lively also insulted him to other famous acquaintances, including Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The documents say Lively did not hesitate to disparage Baldoni among Hollywood acquaintances and, for example, described him to Ben Affleck as a "confused clown."
